Middle School English 8

Two Courses—One Enrollment

Writing (with coaching) and Self-Paced Literature Combined in One Course$678.00

English 8 combines Middle School Writing 3 and Self-Paced Middle School Literature 3 into a single enrollment, giving your 8th grade student a complete English education that includes composition and literary study. Your student will work with a dedicated writing coach on all their writing assignments and progress through self-paced literature at a manageable pace, all for one convenient price.

Is English 8 Right for Your Family?

Many parents find the combined English model—where literature and writing are part of the same course—appealing for its efficiency and coherence. English 8 offers that. Because literature is self-paced and the writing instruction is asynchronous, your student can complete their work anytime during the week that fits their schedule.

A few practical advantages:

  • Two courses, one enrollment. English 8 appears on your student’s learning dashboard as a single annual course.

  • Significant savings compared to enrolling in each course individually.

  • Writing and literature support and reinforce each other throughout the year.

How It Works

Writing (Middle School Writing 3) is coach-supported and covers all four major writing modes across multi-paragraph, multi-draft assignments, with emphasis on word choice, transitions, clichés, and writing mechanics.

In the literature portion (Self-Paced Middle School Literature 3), your student will work through recorded video lectures on each reading assignment at their own pace, complete weekly reading pacing guides, and take auto-graded comprehension quizzes. Note: There is no WriteAtHome teacher support for the literature portion of English 8.

Student Expectations

  • Complete weekly writing lessons and submit assignments on time.

  • Respond to coach feedback through revision and proofreading.

  • Keep up with the reading schedule and complete comprehension quizzes.
