Welcome, Parents
We're so glad your family is here. WriteAtHome exists to make your job easier by providing real writing instruction, thorough feedback from real writing coaches, and no papers for you to grade. This page has everything you need to get started and stay on track all year.
Before Classes Begin
- Log in to Canvas. Both you and your student will use the Canvas Login button on our website, but you each have your own separate account. Your student logs into their student account to complete their coursework, and you log into your parent/observer account to follow their progress and view coach feedback. Login information for both accounts was included in your confirmation email. If you can't find it, email Customer Care and we'll resend it.
- Watch the How-To video. Focused mainly on writing courses, it walks you through using Canvas, checking your student's progress, and viewing coach feedback. Watch it here →
- Complete the Welcome to WriteAtHome course in Canvas. This course covers how to make the most of your WriteAtHome experience no matter what classes you're taking. It's a helpful reference anytime you have questions. It's a great idea to go through it with your student(s).
- Submit a Special Consideration Form if there's anything you'd like your student's coach to know: a learning difference, a family situation, a specific goal. Coaches read these and take them seriously. Submit the form →
As a parent, you have two WriteAtHome accounts, both accessed using the same login information.

Check for missing assignments

Review coach feedback
Coach feedback is returned inside Canvas after each assignment. Take a few minutes to look it over with your student when it arrives. The Welcome to WriteAtHome course in Canvas explains exactly where to find it.
