A New, More Effective Approach to Teaching Grammar

How much do you remember about grammar from your school days? Most people don’t remember much. Stop a stranger on the street and ask them to explain what a participial phrase is and you are likely to get a blank stare.

Why is this? Most of us had to learn grammar in school. Many of us had grammar drilled into us for many years, yet few people retain much about the subject.

At WriteAtHome, we don’t believe grammar is all that complicated. And it’s not that hard to learn the basics of how English works. We think the problem has been the way grammar has been taught.

So we are introducing a brand new approach that simplifies grammar so that any student can learn the basics.

Easy as 8-3-2

Lots of grammar curriculums make grammar seem more complicated than it really is. WriteAtHome breaks it down simply:

  • There are eight parts of speech.

  • There are three sentence parts.

  • There are two types of word groups.

At its heart, that’s all grammar is about. Everything you learned about grammar is about parts of speech (noun, verb, adjective, etc.) sentence parts (subject, predicate, complement) and word groups (phrases and clauses).

Of course you can dig down further. And we do, but it’s easier if you remember these three concepts—what we call the Grammar Zones.

Six Levels at Your Own Pace

WriteAtHome Grammar is a self-paced program with six levels available. The first two are beginner level. The third and fourth are intermediate. The final two are advanced level.

Go as far as you like at whatever pace you like. Even just a few minutes every day will give students an eye-opening and engaging experience.
